Practical guide
3 Restaurants in Jastarnia Outside the Hotel - 2026 Edition
Three tried-and-tested restaurants in Jastarnia outside the hotel: a wood-fired oven, a Kashubian kitchen and Baltic fish. Dishes, prices, hours, reviews. 2026.
Hotel Dom Zdrojowy has its own restaurant, "Czwarte Piętro", and it is good. But Jastarnia is a small town where a few minutes on foot separate a wood-fired pizza oven from a cosy Kashubian kitchen and elegant fish straight from the Baltic. It is worth stepping out.
Below are three local restaurants outside the hotel that the team looking after Apartament Zdrojowy 323 visits at least once a season. We received no payment from any of them. This is not a "best in town" ranking, just three different places for three different evenings. If you are mainly after fresh fish, we also have a dedicated guide to fish restaurants in Jastarnia.
EDITORIAL NOTE: ratings and review counts come from public services (TripAdvisor, Google, Restaurant Guru), as of June 2026. Opening hours and prices at seasonal venues change week to week, so we recommend a quick phone call before your visit. We refresh this edition once a year.
How to read this list
Three things before we describe the venues.
First, this is not a "top 3 best". These are three different places for different occasions: one for a relaxed dinner with a wood-fired oven and seafood, one for a cosy lunch with Kashubian cooking, and one for a quiet dinner with well-prepared fish.
Second, the list does not include "Czwarte Piętro", the restaurant inside Hotel Dom Zdrojowy. That venue is a different category, a hotel restaurant for breakfast and dinner. This article is about places outside the hotel.
Third, seasonality matters. Most venues in Jastarnia run at full steam from May to September. Out of season, some open only at weekends or close, so if you are visiting outside summer, call before you head out.
Kapitalna
A relaxed restaurant with pizza from a wood-fired oven, seafood and Italian-Polish cooking, near the harbour. The strongest mix of popularity and ratings in all of Jastarnia.
| Location | ul. ks. B. Sychty 66, about 10 minutes on foot from the apartment |
| What to order | pizza from the oven, tartare of fresh salmon, fish soup, black pasta with seafood, the "Kapitalny" cheesecake |
| Prices | tartares and starters around 43-59 zł, wood-fired pizza 50-60 zł, fish soup around 33 zł; vegetarian and gluten-free dishes marked |
| Seasonality | open most of the year; outside peak season some days are closed |
| Hours | Mon-Thu and Sun 12:00-21:00, Fri-Sat 9:00-22:00 |
| Guest ratings | TripAdvisor 4.5 (over 380 reviews, #1 in Jastarnia, Travelers' Choice); Google around 4.5 (close to 2000 reviews) |
"The fish soup is a feast for the palate. Great atmosphere, friendly service." (guest review, jastarnia.com)
Tip: in season, book a weekend evening ahead; on Friday and Saturday the kitchen opens in the morning, so you can also drop in for a late breakfast from the oven. There is a recurring note that in peak season it is worth checking the price list before ordering.
Weranda Ogrodnica
A cosy restaurant with regional Kashubian cooking, home-style dishes and a strong line of house baking. Second among restaurants in Jastarnia on TripAdvisor.
| Location | ul. ks. B. Sychty 98, about 15 minutes on foot from the apartment |
| What to order | lemon fish soup, cod meatballs, goose-filled pierogi, herring in cream, a slice of home-made cake |
| Prices | mid-range; the menu is seasonal and short, so confirm prices on site |
| Seasonality | a seasonal venue; out of peak season usually open on selected days from Thursday to Saturday |
| Hours | variable depending on the season, most often from midday to evening on open days |
| Guest ratings | TripAdvisor 4.3 (over 400 reviews, #2 in Jastarnia); Google around 4.6 (over 1700 reviews) |
"Lovely service, a cosy interior arranged with taste, and excellent food. Everything refined and prepared with attention to detail." (guest review)
Tip: book a table ahead, even outside peak season; the most common reservation guests raise is the difficulty of reaching the phone at peak times, so if no one answers at once, try again outside the lunch rush.
Zatoka Smaków
An elegant restaurant with fresh Baltic fish and a short, seasonal menu. A member of the Culinary Heritage Network, with an award-winning kitchen.
| Location | ul. Portowa 35, about 15 minutes on foot from the apartment towards the harbour |
| What to order | saffron-and-garlic fish soup, pan-fried cod Kashubian style, halibut in leek sauce, spicy herring "sultan style" |
| Prices | soups around 24-35 zł, mains around 41-59 zł, often as full sets |
| Seasonality | open all year; the menu changes with the seasons; breakfast usually 7:30-10:45 |
| Hours | Sun-Thu 12:45-20:00, Fri-Sat 12:45-21:00 |
| Guest ratings | Google around 4.5 (close to 500 reviews); TripAdvisor 4.6. Chef of the Year 2018 in the region, listed in Poland 100 Best Restaurants 2019 |
"The menu is not large, which means only one thing: it is cooked fresh here. The cod beautifully served, with roasted potatoes, by friendly, smiling staff." (TripAdvisor review)
Tip: the short menu is a strength, not a weakness; the halibut in leek sauce is one of the most frequently praised dishes.
What did not make the list, and why
Choosing three venues from nearly thirty in Jastarnia is a selection, and a selection means exclusions. A few places were close and deserve a mention.
Śledź & Pasta (ul. Polna) has one of the largest sets of Google reviews in all of Jastarnia and a distinctive, modern fish profile, from herring to poke bowls. It did not make the three mainly because of inconsistent hours across sources and signals that it can be cash only.
Homar (ul. ks. B. Sychty) is a fish classic running since 1991, one of the longest-operating fish venues in Jastarnia, known for potato pancakes with smoked salmon. It works seasonally.
Łóżko (ul. ks. B. Sychty) is a year-round, family venue with the largest number of Google reviews in town, a good choice with children and out of season.
A broader pick of fish-focused venues is in our guide to fish restaurants in Jastarnia; this post is a narrow pick of three restaurants for different moods. Also outside the list are hotel restaurants (including "Czwarte Piętro" at Hotel Dom Zdrojowy), chain venues, and places in neighbouring towns (Jurata, Kuźnica, Chałupy, Hel), since we stay within Jastarnia itself.
Practical notes for guests
| Situation | What to know |
|---|---|
| High season (July-August) | Book ahead. Even relaxed venues can have queues on a Saturday evening; it is best to call in the morning for an evening table, as most places have no online booking |
| Out of season (October-April) | Some venues are closed or on reduced, weekend hours; check the Facebook page or call before you head out |
| Payments | Most take cards and BLIK, but in smaller venues cash can still be needed; it is worth carrying 100-200 zł |
| With children | Restaurants in the centre usually have high chairs and a children's menu; Hotel Dom Zdrojowy also has a playroom (ages 5-12), open all year and included in the stay |
| With a dog | Some venues welcome dogs in the garden, some do not; details in the pet stay rules and the guide dogs on the Baltic |
How to use this list
Three restaurants is not "three days, three dinners". On a short stay some guests pick one or two from this list plus an evening at "Czwarte Piętro" in the hotel, while others visit all three. A practical suggestion: on the first evening choose something relaxed (Kapitalna), on the second book a cosy lunch (Weranda Ogrodnica), and leave Zatoka Smaków for a quiet fish dinner.
Apartament Zdrojowy 323 sits a few dozen metres from the seaside promenade, so each of these places is within a short evening walk. For more ideas around the area, see our guide to the Hel Peninsula. If you are planning a stay with local cuisine in mind, book directly through the availability form. After you arrive, we are happy to suggest where to go on a given evening, depending on the weather and your preferences.
